Terms of Use

Last updated: June 7, 2026

Welcome to Got AI Policy, a public registry of AI governance policies across Canadian municipalities and organizations, maintained by CivicPlay.ai (“we”, “us”). By accessing or using gotaipolicy.ca and our other site addresses (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Got AI Policy provides a free, publicly accessible directory that tracks AI policy status across Canadian municipalities and organizations, with links to publicly available evidence. Optional free accounts unlock additional features such as a personal dashboard, profile settings, shortlists, saved filters, public filter sharing, referral links, and limited CSV export. Paid tiers — Starter (CA$19/month or CA$190/year, solo), Pro (CA$59/month or CA$590/year, with a 14-day free trial and 4 pooled team seats), and Founding Member Status (CA$887/year, Early Access Cohort, lifetime price lock for existing members) — unlock larger quotas, full Excel/Word exports, AI tools, and the features described in section 4a below.

2. Accounts and profile

You must provide accurate information when creating an account, keep your password confidential, and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity under your account. Profile fields (name, organization, role, bio) are optional and visible only to you in your settings. You may also upload a profile picture (avatar), and approved Founding Members may upload a Founding Member logo; both are visible to other signed-in users next to your name in shared spaces (forum, network, direct messages). Changing your email or password requires re-entering your current password. Signed-in users can also use the global search palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K) to jump across the Site. Light mode is the default; signed-in users may enable a dark theme from the user menu, and approved Founding Members see a Founding Member accent color applied site-wide while signed in. These display preferences are stored in your browser. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used to abuse the Site.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise access the Site or its data in ways that bypass posted limits (including export quotas) or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
  • Misrepresent yourself, attempt to access other users' accounts, or interfere with the Site's security or operation.
  • Use the Site or its data to harass, defame, or harm any organization or individual.
  • Abuse the referral system, the Founding Member application process, or issue-report submissions through fake accounts, automated signups, or other fraudulent activity.
  • Use the Site in violation of applicable Canadian or local law.

4. Free account features and quotas

Free account features are provided at no charge and are subject to quotas that we may change to keep the service sustainable. As of the date of these Terms, free CSV export is limited to a maximum of 10 rows per export and 3 exports per calendar month per account, and Excel (.xlsx) and Word (.docx) exports require a paid tier. Starter raises the export cap to 30 per calendar month with no per-export row limit and unlocks Excel and Word exports; Pro and Founding Member exports are unmetered. Other features (shortlists, watchlists, saved filters, filter sharing, referral links, direct messages, and one-off verification requests) are currently unmetered but may become subject to limits in the future. We may adjust, pause, or remove features at any time.

Founding Member Status (Early Access Cohort) is a paid subscription that you may apply for via the in-product application form. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance — applications are reviewed manually and may be approved or rejected at our sole discretion. Until June 30, 2026 (23:59 Calgary time), the program is open to new applications; after that date we may close the cohort or change its terms. Founding Member benefits — which today include the AI Insights Suite (AI-generated policy summaries, the Ask copilot, /compare side-by-side reports, on-demand re-scans, and CSV / PDF / XLSX / DOCX exports of AI output), unlimited shortlists and saved filters, advanced table filters, the customizable dashboard, and community spaces — may evolve over time.

If your application is approved, you will be invited to subscribe via Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Founding Member is a digital service: all sales are final and we do not issue pro-rated refunds for partial periods or unused days, except (1) where required by Canadian consumer-protection law, or (2) at our discretion for clear billing errors (e.g. duplicate charge, charged on the wrong plan). Founding Member benefits remain active until the end of the paid period and stop at the next renewal date if you cancel or your payment fails. If your application is rejected, you may submit a new application or

contact us at support@gotaipolicy.ca for clarifications. We may invalidate Founding Member Status obtained through misrepresentation or abuse of the application or referral systems.

Paid subscriptions (Starter, Pro, and Founding Member) are processed by Stripe. By checking out you also agree to Stripe's terms of service. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars at checkout and exclude any applicable taxes; taxes are not reflected in the prices shown. We do not see or store full payment card details; we receive only enough information from Stripe (customer ID, subscription ID, card brand, last four digits) to manage your subscription. You are responsible for keeping your payment method valid; if a charge fails, your paid access may be paused or cancelled. Starter and Pro both include a 14-day free trial that requires a card on file (no charge until day 14); Founding Member is application-gated and does not include a trial.

4c. Issue reports and external forms

When you click “Report an issue” on a registry row, we open a Jotform-hosted form in a new tab and prefill it with the title of the affected entry and, if you are signed in, your account's unique identifier so we can follow up. Use these forms only for legitimate reports and submissions. Do not include confidential or third-party personal information that you are not authorized to share. Submissions are subject to section 8 below.

4d. Direct messages and community spaces

Signed-in users can connect with other signed-in users and, once a connection request has been accepted, exchange 1:1 direct messages. You may also (where you have access) post in community forum threads, and you may upload a profile picture (avatar); approved Founding Members may also upload a Founding Member logo. By connecting, messaging, posting, or uploading an image, you agree not to harass, threaten, dox, spam, or send unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content; not to impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation; not to upload images you don't have rights to use or that contain confidential or third-party personal information; and not to share confidential or third-party personal information in messages, posts, or connection requests. You can decline or remove any connection at any time, block any user (which prevents them from messaging you further), and report any message or post for moderator review. We may remove content or images, restrict messaging or uploads, or suspend accounts that violate these rules. Reported messages, posts, and images may be reviewed by our moderation team.

4e. Watchlists and verification requests

You can add municipalities or organizations to your shortlist or watchlist, and request that our team manually verify a municipality from its profile page or your dashboard. Watchlists are private to you; we use them to surface status-change alerts on your dashboard the next time you sign in. Verification requests are queued for human review; we do not guarantee a turnaround time, and acceptance into the queue is at our discretion. Founding Members may receive an expanded monthly quota of verification requests as described on the Founding Member page.

Got AI Policy's AI features are in public beta. Several paid-tier features are powered by AI: structured policy summaries shown on each municipality profile, the natural-language Ask copilot, the side-by-side /compare reports, and "Review my policy" analyses. AI summaries are generated from public source documents fetched via Firecrawl and are visible to all visitors; Ask answers, comparisons, and policy reviews are generated on demand for the signed-in user who requests them. AI output is informational only — it may contain errors, omissions, hallucinations, misclassifications, or outdated information even after human review, and it does not constitute legal, procurement, or compliance advice. Always verify AI output against the linked source document before relying on it. To keep costs and quality in check, we apply per-tier quotas (currently up to 10 re-scans per day per Founding Member, with per-day limits on Ask, and monthly caps on "Review my policy" that vary by tier). Each AI answer carries an optional 👍/👎 helpfulness vote; by voting, you agree we may use the vote to improve prompt quality and to triage failed responses. Do not paste confidential or third-party personal information into AI prompts. We may rate-limit, restrict, or revoke AI access for accounts that abuse these features.

You keep ownership of documents you upload or link for policy review. By submitting a document, you grant Got AI Policy permission to process it for the purpose of generating your requested review, operating the service, maintaining security, troubleshooting errors, and improving the platform through anonymized and aggregated analytical insights.

We do not republish your uploaded documents or private reviews unless you choose to share them. We do not directly train public AI models on raw uploaded policies, private drafts, direct messages, or forum content. See the Governance page for full detail.

5. Sharing saved filters

You may publish any saved filter via a unique share link. By doing so, you acknowledge that anyone with the link can view the filter's name and saved criteria, open it in the directory, and copy it to their own account. Do not include confidential information in filter names. You can revoke sharing at any time, which invalidates the existing link.

Each account is assigned a unique referral link. You may share this link with friends and coworkers. We track which accounts sign up via your link to display a referral count to you. Referrals do not currently confer monetary rewards. We may invalidate referrals or referral counts that result from fake accounts, self-referrals, or other abuse.

7. Registry content and accuracy

Got AI Policy aggregates information from public sources and submissions, and our team reviews evidence links before publishing. Despite our care, the registry may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. AI-generated fields (summaries, comparisons, Ask answers, and policy reviews) are in public beta and carry the additional caveats described in § 4f above. The Site is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, policy, or professional advice. Always verify details with the relevant organization before relying on them.

If you believe a record is inaccurate, please submit a correction or proof of policy using the link in the footer.

8. Submissions

When you submit a link, evidence, or correction, you confirm that you have the right to share it and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to review, publish, and display the submission on the Site as part of the public registry. Do not submit confidential information you are not authorized to share.

9. Intellectual property

The Site's name, branding, design, and original written content are owned by CivicPlay.ai. The underlying registry data is compiled from public sources. You may view, search, and reference the registry, including making limited CSV exports through the in-product feature, provided you respect attribution and the quotas described above. You may not republish substantial portions of the dataset without our written permission.

10. Third-party links

The registry contains links to third-party websites (such as municipal pages or policy documents). We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of those sites.

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CivicPlay.ai and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill arising out of or related to your use of the Site.

13. Changes to the Site or these Terms

We may update the Site, its features, or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in Alberta will have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms. Quebec users retain the rights granted by Quebec's Law 25, and Canadian users retain the rights granted by PIPEDA and, for Alberta residents, by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
